Ann-Kathrin Rahlwes

Hello, I'm Ann-Kathrin Rahlwes.

Since 2013 I have been working as a freelance historian. I help families, companies and museums to research historical topics. I connect object histories with people and their lives to find out who they were, how they lived and what mattered to them.

I want to get people excited about history. That is why it is important to me to convey history in a clear and understandable way for all age groups. This also has to do with my involvement in historical and political education from 2003 to 2013. I completed my master's degree in political science, medieval and modern history and philosophy in 2011.

Sharing knowledge

I find new inspiration for my work at conferences, through further training and in exchange with professional colleagues. I pass on my knowledge to my clients, to exhibition teams and through workshops.

Talks & Events

Gaming in Museums. Playful analogue and digital mediation

Museumsverband Hessen

In the workshop, participants from Hessian museums learn how playful learning works in museums and which formats are suitable for their needs. Numerous examples from European museums provide suggestions on how different educational objectives can be implemented. A digital follow-up meeting enables participants to exchange ideas with colleagues and provides inspiration for further work.

Communicating object history

Museumsverband Hessen

The aim of the full-day workshop is to train museum staff to identify objects in their museum collection that are well suited to imparting knowledge about historical events, biographies and topics as part of digital educational programmes. Using the example of posts for Instagram and digital exhibitions for Google Arts & Culture, participants learn how storytelling methods can be implemented.
